A UAS photogrammetry survey is a fast, cost-effective, and highly accurate method for volumetric calculations of heaps and excavations.
Hands-off Approach
Ground control targets are placed around the feature (spoil heap, stockpile, or excavation) or wider site, and recorded to OS coordinates with a GPS. A UAS equipped with a camera will fly over the feature, capturing photos at regular intervals. The photos are processed using photogrammetry software to produce a model of the feature. From this, the software calculates the volume of a determined area and generates a report.

Accurate Results
With a ground sampling distance and georeferencing capability both within 3cm, volumetric surveys by UAS photogrammetry is very accurate. No direct access to the feature is required, ensuring a low-risk survey with high-quality results.
The results are presented in a simple report, detailing the volume of a specified area or multiple areas. The calculation boundary can be easily adjusted according to the requirements of the client.
