I would just like to thank you and the team for yesterday for working in a professional and safe manner on our site. Adam, I must say is the best drone operator I have come across, all very polite and appreciative of the coffee and biscuits at our break time all in all a pleasure to work with.

We were looking for an experienced archaeological geophysics contractor to carry out surveys of two coastal promontory forts and one coastal cropmark site in Wales, as part of our EU-funded CHERISH Project studying the effects of climate change and erosion on coastal heritage sites. SUMO had a good track record of surveys on comparable sites and could deploy a range of survey technology as required. The work was carried out promptly, including liaison with private landowners, with draft data supplied in advance of the final interpretative reports. Overall we were impressed with the results of the work.

Please pass our thanks to all those involved and we have no hesitation in recommending you to others!

The survey has been significant help in locating, reinforcing and enabling precise location of machine bolt down anchors to avoid cutting through the rebar. The service provided by SUMO was very prompt and they were able to show up on site at short notice. Richard was polite, professional, very helpful and took the time to explain the process and show us on the ground what he had identified.

Head of Engineering Services, National Physical Labratory

I am delighted with the GPR survey SUMO Geophysics carried out for us at Rochester Cathedral. This can be a difficult place to work, with many complications over use, access and safeguarding. SUMO’s team were a model of professionalism throughout, which made the operational side so much easier to deal with. The results are absolutely fantastic, surpassing my most optimistic hopes for what we might achieve. I went into this project with clear aims (or at least hopes) that we might end up with a better understanding of how the medieval cloister had evolved. To find such clear evidence for a previously unknown early Norman cloister underneath the existing 12th-century one, as well as unexpected elements of the Cellarer’s Range, was a real bonus. It was also a pleasure working with the team who carried out the detailed analysis and interpretation of the survey data, which was an ideal collaboration between us. Top marks all round - thank you!

I’d like to once again say what a cracking job SUMO did on our Topography survey. I’ve recently had to do additional survey work on this site; around 400+ additional trees surveyed, and couldn’t have done it if the topo hadn’t been such a thorough job.

NRS Surveying Ltd have used Sumo Surveys on a number of occasions to carry out a GPR Survey on various schemes from S278 works through to whole site surveys. The office team are always very helpful and prompt at issuing the quotations. The site survey teams are highly knowledgeable and extremely professional when on site. This is why we use SUMO Surveys and would strongly recommend them.

Baya Saha

It’s not very often I comment positively on information received but I feel in this instance I should. The quality of the drawing and detail of the survey is brilliant and the works have been very cost effective to us. This is certainly the standard I expect! Well Done and Thank you. In comparison to some of your competitors both in quality and value you blow them out the water.

Scott Robinson
Senior Technical Manager, Taylor Wimpey, Exeter

SUMO Geophysics recently completed a detailed geophysical survey on c86ha of agricultural land in Hinkley Point, North Somerset, United Kingdom. The work comprised a pilot study on an area of known archaeological remains to determine the most effective survey method followed by detailed magnetometry of c80ha supplemented by resistivity survey on selected areas.
All work was completed satisfactorily and within the contracted budget, programme and quality specification. SUMO Geophysics was able to dedicate adequate and appropriate resources and equipment to undertake the work. Interpretation and presentation of the results of the survey were completed to a high standard.
SUMO Geophysics will be maintained in our supplier database for future work.

I would just like to say thank you to you and your team for all the hard work carried out within various MOD establishments over the past financial year, all under very tight timescales and restrictions placed upon us due to the nature of our client. The SUMO engineers/surveyors that have undertaken work on site are courteous and adhere to all current MOD H&S procedures whilst carrying out work in a professional approach, producing detailed information ensuring work can be carried out in a safe environment.

Over a period of many months now SUMO have been appointed on a competetive basis to carry out a number of Measured Building surveys, Utility stats, Utility Mapping surveys, Topographical surveys and CCTV Drainage surveys. Their service has been very effeciently carried out and accurately presented in AutoCAD format normally on a very tight schedule. I would also add that their office staff and site operatives are very polite and carry out their duties in a professional manner. I would have no hesitation in engaging Sumo Survey Services to carry out work on behalf of LBN in the future.

This is a great piece of work and so thanks to you and the team who undertook the survey. It is not only me who thinks so as I sent the preliminary processed figures through to Historic England who thought the results looked excellent.

Robin Jackson
Senior Archaeological Project Manager, Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service.

SUMO were incredibly accommodating for a project which had a very tight deadline. Their price was very competitive and they completed the topographical survey which I had commissioned them for way before it was due to be completed. I would highly recommend them to any professional

We used SUMO Survey Services to undertake a reinforcement survey on the ground floor walls of a 15 storey block of flats in Cardiff. The client could not supply any ‘as built’ or ‘construction’ drawings for the building. The survey and report enabled us to indicate to the client which walls were heavily reinforced and therefore needed to either remain intact or would be very costly to cut limited openings through….. The Architect was then able to modify their proposed plans accordingly, whilst the scheme was still at the feasibility stage…It saved them a significant amount of money on the construction costs.
