New Company Merger
With effect from January 2017 GSB Prospection and Stratascan have fully merged into one operation, under the new name of
Geophysics for Archaeology and Engineering
Dr John Gater has become Director of Archaeology for the combined business and will be overseeing all aspects of the geophysical work. Quality Control will be one of his main focuses.
Peter Barker has retired as Managing Director of Stratascan but maintains his seat on the Board of SUMO in a non-executive role. His technical expertise in Engineering Geophysics will therefore remain available to us.
Simon Haddrell, David Elks and Richard Fleming have been appointed directors.
The merging of the two companies means that we now have the capacity to operate eight fully equipped field teams; up to six performing ‘standard’ magnetometry surveys (including cart based systems where appropriate); plus specialist teams carrying out radar, EM, seismic and electrical surveys.
By combining the strengths of both companies, SUMO SURVEY is now the largest provider of archaeological geophysics in the UK. With more than 30 years combined experience, we are therefore well placed to tackle any challenges arising in the world of commercially-led archaeology and engineering geophysics.
For ease of communication going forwards:
Fiona Higgott will be your single point of contact for all Quotations.
Simon Haddrell and David Elks will manage the Upton office.
Jon Tanner will manage the Bradford office.
Richard Fleming will be responsible for all radar surveys.
Every project will be managed by a single co-ordinator at either office.
